Invited to participate in a contest team but they are using Win-Test (or DXLog) and you are only familiar with N1MM+ ?

Then download Win-Test before the contest and familiarise yourself with it!

These contest applications provide more than a logging facility: they are productivity tools – automating operator activity, improving accuracy, rate and supporting decision making – familiarity is essential to maximise the score. In a multi-operator environment, the contest software also provides a platform for communication, multiplier passing and identifying opportunities that might otherwise pass by.

Admittedly, Win-Test has fallen behind other products (notably N1MM+ and DXLog) with its features but it is probably the most stable and reliable product available, particularly on LANs and more so on WANs; many think its the easiest to use, too.

A good way to familiarise oneself with new contest software is to browse around the menu structure – find where things are and identify what might be useful. I have a mental note of all the functions I typically use in a contest and will work out where they are in the new software.

Last year I used N1MM+ for the first time in a major contest – my American contest team pals drove the decision. Several months before the contest I downloaded N1MM+and used it at home in a few contests; as a result I created the following tabled that may be of use to others:
